arizona cardinals on facebookIt appears that Arizona Cardinals fans have finally shown up.  Phoenix has always been considered a Suns town and the performance of the Cardinals Fan application on Facebook seemed to solidify the Cardinals as second class citizens.  I had assumed, wrongly as it turns out, that once the Cardinals wrapped up a playoff spot in November, their fans would start showing up in droves to support a team that has exemplified futility the last ten or so years.  However, as the Detroit Lions grabbed the “Worst Franchise in the NFL” label with an iron grip, the Cardinals quietly built one of the most fun teams to watch this season, one that saw them jump out to a great start only to limp through December.  Through all of that, Cardinals fans have been very late to the playoff party within the FanSection community.  But in the last seven days, all of that has seemed to change as Arizona prepares to meet the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship.  Below is a graph that shows the huge increase in Cardinals FanSection application over the last week or so:

Eagles fans have shown a similar jump in activity over the last month which could make this weekend’s game the Battle of the Fairweather Fans.  What say you Eagles and Cardinals fans?  Are you passionate supporters and just recently found the FanSection community on Facebook, or are you bandwagon jumpers that pay little attention until it’s clear that you’re backing a winner?  I’m not judging, just asking the question.
