I originally saw these rankings at TV By The Numbers, but you can read the whole article at the Nielsen Wire.

It’s interesting that 4 of the top 5 local markets for the NBA do not have an NFL team.  And the only one that does, Cleveland, might as well not have one given the futility of the Browns.  Jerry Buss, owner of the Lakers has to be doing some serious lobbying to keep the NFL out of LA so that he can continue to reign supreme in that market.

As a reminder, the Top 10 NBA apps in the FanSection community are:

  1. Boston Celtics - 200K
  2. Los Angeles Lakers - 190K
  3. Detroit Pistons - 111K
  4. Cleveland Cavaliers - 92K
  5. Toronto Raptors - 89K
  6. San Antonio Spurs - 70K
  7. Phoenix Suns - 61K
  8. Dallas Mavericks - 61K
  9. Golden State Warriors - 48K
  10. Chicago Bulls - 46K

Not surprisingly, 7 of these are also on the Nielsen list.
