Every sports fan can appreciate sports trivia.  It’s one of the most visited and used features within our Facebook applications, and as a result we’ve accumulated well over one million questions across the FanSection suite of communities.  That content, which is 100% user generated, is incredibly valuable because of its unique ability to engage users.

That’s the main reason we’ve developed and launched FanSection trivia widgets for all of our teams.  So as of last night, the FanSection Widget Gallery is open for business.  All 600+ teams are represented and there is literally something for every sports fan.

Our overall widget strategy is to distribute these across the Web to personal profile pages, fan sites, blogs, etc.  As mentioned previously, we’ve already had some good success with our RSS widgets, and we think trivia will be equally, if not more successful.  They represent a good opportunity for bloggers to give readers one more reson to stick around a few minutes longer, which in the world of online advertising, is extremely valuable.
